Board of Directors

Save the Nation is run by a Board from which officers are elected, and is made up of the founder and co founder, supported by a group of dedicated fully qualified individuals from different career fields with varying experiences all dedicated to improving the standard of living in the nations that we work in. 

Solomon Scholz - Chairman and Co-Founder

He is a Senior Accountant at the Department of Housing and has worked with multiple non profits and organizations to ensure best financial practices. Solomon Scholz is the Chief Financial Officer of The African Gospel Network, he holds a Bachelors degree in accounting and a Masters in Business Administration.

Solomon has provided leadership and financial transparency to multiple organizations that he has worked with.

Rev. Edwin Lavaly - Vice Chairman

Rev. Edwin Lavaly MSC, BSC, CPS, CPHT, PHD learner is the General overseer of New Era of Harvest Ministry International Church based in Freetown Sierra Leone and Associate Pastor of International House of Prayer Ministries Silver Spring Maryland. He has held multiple leadership positions such as the former Pastor of Body of Christ and Wind of Change International Church in Tampa Florida; Former President and Secretary General of Celebrate Jesus Tampa Inc. a coalition of Pastors; Former Board Member Salvation Academy; Former Compliance Manager Gulfside Regional Hospice in Dade City Florida.

He holds a Master of Science degree in Health Management (MSC), a Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences (BSC), a Certificate in Pastors Studies (CPS), and is also a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPHT). Reverend Edwin is currently a qualified Intellectual developmental disability Professional at Hope Found Inc. and currently a PHD candidate, specializing in Social and Community Services at Capella University.

Giileh Kebbie Scholz – Founder and Executive Director

Giileh is a singer, songwriter, actress, entrepreneur and pioneer. She has served as President of the board of Directors of Our Savior’s School in Forestville, Maryland; is Chairman of the Sierra Leone Association of Artists and Musicians; and Public Relations Director of the African Gospel Network. She works with multiple non profits and organizations to raise funds and empower others.

Giileh holds a Bachelors in Economics from the Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone and a Masters in Technology Management from the University of Maryland University College. She is a member of the national Society of Leadership and Success, holding The National Engaged  Leader Role.

David Baukei Vandy – Public Relation Director

David Vandy is the Chairman of the African Gospel Network. He is an International Broadcaster, producer, and host of the popular music show ‘African Beat’ at the Voice of America in Washington DC, He has, produced and directed multiple plays in Sierra Leone and is a founding member of one of the leading Theatre groups in Sierra Leone; Kailondo Theatre. David also produced and directed plays at the African Studies Department Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone. He worked as Radio Broadcaster for several radio stations in Sierra Leone including the United Nations Mission Radio and the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Service Radio/Television where he created, produced and directed the first comedy television soap opera ‘Dee Vee Productions’ now ‘Wan Pot’.


Jaqueline Williams-Coker – Assistant Public Relations

Jacqueline Williams-Coker obtained her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration concentration in Business and Human Resources Management with a double minor in Communication and Graphic Design.  She has over 15 years of distinguished performance in Human Resources Management.  With a portfolio of achievements that include Training and Development, Talent Acquisition, Federal Government Contracts, and Tactical Planning, etc. 

Her broad-based background encompasses exceptional work ethics and commitment to develop organizational structure and its objectives.  She is a proactive Entrepreneur, Educator, and Business Consultant with the ability to build, lead teams, and motivate top performers. 

Roxanne Alston – Chief Financial Officer

Roxanne Alston is the Assistant Director, Customer Relations for the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards She received her undergraduate degree from St. Joseph’s University and a graduate MBA degree concentrating in global management and finance from George Washington University.  She is active in her community as a volunteer.  Particularly, she is an active volunteer for the arts and in support of domestic violence solutions.  She has also attended the Oracle University, the Disney Institute, and is a certified scrum master. 

Roxanne served as the Senior Network Administrator for Gifts In Kind the 7th largest charity in the managing overall membership and donor data management processes including data integration, configuration management, conversions, data integration with corporate accounting software, and integration of client data for web development.

Desmond Bishop - Director

Desmond Lacton Bishop, is a veteran of the Corporate Travel Management Industry. Desmond was born in Sierra Leone (SL) but educated in both the UK and USA obtaining a Management degree at the William Paterson University in Wayne, NJ. He immediately embarked on a 22 year career with American Express Global Travel Management Services before running his own business between 2006-2010. During this time Desmond worked his way up to various positions within the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut offices, most interesting of which was with the Pequot Tribe Nation at the famous Foxwoods Casino. Prior to his departure from Corporate Travel, Desmond started a personal Travel and Concierge service in 2002, the first of its kind immediately after the civil strife in Sierra Leone. His company Afrikasgems Tour was a major player in promoting travel, tourism & hospitality to his home nation.


Mary Vandy - Director

Mary Musa Sesay is a Director of the African Gospel Network, and holds a Bachelors in Economics, Accounting, and Nursing. She is the assistant Social Sec of The United Sierra Leone Sisters. Mary is also the Treasurer of The Pioneer African Union Association.

She serves on the board of Save The Nation non profit foundation. Mary brings to the organization an excellent track record of financial credibility and sound financial and organizational experience.

John Benjamin (Jr) - Director

John Benjamin (Jr), An experienced IT and application professional who has developed a strong technological background working with Unix and Windows computers and software at General Motors for 10 years. Team oriented individual with good interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to accurately evaluate customer requirements and complete related tasks / projects which satisfy or exceed customer requirements on time. A detail oriented professional with excellent organizational and project management skills who has collaborated with colleagues in multiple manufacturing locations (Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Sweden, Germany, Korea, and South Africa) in software support, application upgrades, and computer hardware replacement / updates.
